Dameron Band @ Avondale Easter Fair

Posted on: March 23rd, 2008 / Music, Videos

Another year, another fair. Food is always good. Weather always holds up 95% of the time. I wasn’t really interested in the entertainment unless my sisters were performing but this time, a couple of friends were going to perform this year. So yeah, I had to check it out. They covered 5 songs but only requested to record one performance which was their cover of Nelly Furtado’s “I Am” song. They did extremely well and as with all good bands, sounds awesome live. It’s too bad that its only a part-time thing.

Student Art Show: Follow-up

Posted on: March 6th, 2008 / Graphics

Wow, I got 1st Place for my Tabasco Ad in the Design Category. The show itself was pretty cool. It was more crowded than I thought. And much needed food was served. Though it was only finger food. None of my works were sold. It couldn’t be sold. I wanted to sell at least one of them. So why no sale? Apparently, you had to specify beforehand that you wanted to sell something and put a price down. I didn’t know this so all of my stuff were listed as “nfs” or, you guessed it… NOT FOR SALE. So yeah, I could’ve sold something =(

Anyway, the gallery will stay up for the rest of next week up until Monday of the following week. Check it out if you can.

Student Art Show @ Delgado Community College in City Park

Posted on: March 3rd, 2008 / Graphics, Music

What: Student Art Show
When: Thursday, March 6th – Monday, March 17th
Where: Delgado Community College in City Park. 3rd floor gallery, Building #1.

So there’s a student art show this week and I’ve been preparing three of my artworks to be shown. I would use more but turns out you can only submit a maximum of three. Two of my projects were in an unusual size. It was 15″x20″. Standard frames closest to that size were 16″x20″. I wanted to have an even border around the artwork (except the bottom border). I figured I should get some custom frames done. Cost of getting it done: $60. I opted out of that so I just bought a 18″x24″ poster frame and cut out the matte overlay myself.

Anyway, I bet some of you guys are wondering when the next mixed set will come out. I can’t say for sure. If you haven’t noticed by now, I don’t have set dates on these things. All I can say is keep a look out. This is not something I would quit doing. Besides, how do you quit a hobby anyway?

Update: 03.04.08
I just put the art up today. Looks good in sunlight.
