The opening for the student art show was held this past Thursday at Delgado Community College (City Park campus). There seem to be less submissions than last year but there were still some stellar designs to be seen. It also seemed a bit less crowded than last time.
Anyway, the deadline was the Monday prior to the show and I found out that I was one of the first ones to submit anything. Last year I did the same thing but there were already stuff set up on the walls already. Surprised to be honest.
So what did I submit for the show?
My three submissions. It’s technically four, but the state posters are a set.
My pieces hung on the wall prior to the show. Yeah, that piece of block whatever threw off everything. I had to tell some people there that all three are mine.
This year, there were more categories but I’m happy to say that I placed 1st in 2-D design. Other categories included photography, 3-D design, illustration, and best of the show along with a few honorable mentions. The design that got “best of the show” totally deserved it. Congrats to everyone that placed.
So there you have it. I honestly didn’t think those poster designs would get chosen but I’ve seen crazier things.
