projeqt – how great stories are told

Posted on: January 31st, 2011 / Graphics

A few months ago (back in November to be exact), a couple of my classmates and I attended a presentation of sorts, hosted by the New Orleans chapter of AIGA. There were two parts to it but we sort of missed the first half because we came a bit late. We did, however, catch the second half.

The second presentation was done by David Lee, who is currently the Digital Executive Creative Director for TBWAWorldwide (these guys are big shots!). His presentation was really insightful but the real star was what he used to present his entire presentation. It looked like some kind of slide show software. He later revealed it was a project called, well… “projeqt”.

Description from the projeqt site:

What’s Your Story?

Your story is who you are and how your story gets told is just as important as the story itself.

Great stories keep us riveted to the page. Or the screen (whatever shape or size it happens to come in.) Great stories get shared and are retold time after time after time. Great stories always leave us wanting more.

Projeqt gives you the tools and technology to tell your story. It provides a robust architecture, with unprecedented flexibility and possibilities.

Projeqt is about giving you the power to projeqt your story to the world.

Yeah, it’s a slide show but it’s a bit deeper than that. As you can see from the video, you can create “projeqts”. Within projeqts, you can create as many slides as you want. You can also create projeqts within projeqts if you wanted to. Additionally, you can add tags, links, and links to social networking sites within the slides themselves. You can even add a video for a specified slide. The whole process is pretty painless. It’s still in beta right now, so there might be some bugs and missing features. You would need to request a beta account if you want in. I requested for one on the day of the presentation and didn’t get an account until recently.

So far, it’s pretty damn cool. It is written in HTML5 and is optimized for viewing across desktop and mobile platforms.

It’s just my portfolio work for now but I might illustrate a story or two using projeqt as the platform.
