Album title lettering
A font (Cronos Pro) was used for the Late Night Alumni text at the bottom. The graphics of the birds, bees, and butterflies came way later.

What’s inside

Design credits are on the spine.

Additional notes:

• Photos of the group were taken from their site. Unless I’m mistaken, photos are by Finn Bjarson (who is part of the group).
• Font used for all copy is Cronos Pro by Robert Slimbach.
• Everything is printed on watercolor paper except the CD label.
• The CD label is just regular paper from a CD label kit. The label was pretty thin so I thought the labels on the CD itself would show through. I added another label on top. So there’s actually 2 labels on top of the disc.
• Trying to fold watercolor paper was pretty tricky so I used a scoring knife to help with the folds.
• I kept the project simple due to limited resources. And I like minimal designs. Some negative space wouldn’t hurt.
• I did start over a few times because something like the CD sleeve was a millimeter too short or some of the text were a few pixels too high on the layout.
• Favorite track from the album? That would be Light Reading. I was hoping they were going to add the live version of What’s In A Name but they didn’t =(

Oh, I should mention, the whole thing took up 3 18″x24″ sheets of drawing paper. They’re taped together obviously. This was my original intent. What was also my original intent was to draw an angel passing through the wall. I figured Shadowcat would be more appropriate =)

First, I would like to point out that I put up tons of my work on the wall. There’s only one side of my wall that absolutely has nothing on it and that is where my bed resides. Actually, 20 out of 23 pieces are my work. The other 3 are stuff that I bought or were given to me.

This is when the desk is actually clean. I’ve been doing pretty well keeping it that way for the past 2 months or so. So here, I have an old, but really cool, banker’s chair I got from my dad’s shop. I don’t usually say this about things but this thing is a beauty. If only I could do something about the squeakiness. The desk is an IKEA Fredrik. It’s the smaller version but it’s really awesome. Why buy a cheap desk that you don’t really like (and keep replacing) with something you love and keep forever? The laptop stand is just something I bought from Office Depot.

This is my old, trusty, first generation MacBook. Sadly, I can’t upgrade it to OSX Lion since its a regular ol’ Core Duo so I’m stuck with Snow Leopard. I bought this in 2006.[/spoiler]

This is what I have under my desk. There isn’t much here other than a small subwoofer, an ArtBin, and my Nike shoes. Notice the lack of wires! They’re all tucked in the compartment that you see along the top of the photo. Oh, you can see a portion of my art portfolio here on the right side of the photo. It’s sandwiched between the desk and the PC tower.[/spoiler]

This is the top left part of my desk. The printer is an HP Deskjet 6980. The little black thing that says “HELLO SUSHI” on it is something that you prop your chopsticks on when you’re eating sushi. I got it from a sushi joint called, what else? Hello Sushi. The robot action figure is from an old 80′s mech anime called Dangaioh. It was one of the first proper anime’s I’ve watched. The other being MD Geist. The small spartan helmet is a gift from a friend from when she went to Europe. The donkey plush was given to me for my birthday from my little sisters. It’s one of those Flip Flops plushies. And beside that…

… are books! They range from reference books, books on graphic design, and among other things. I think the photo is clear enough to see what they are. My favorite out of the bunch is more paperwork by Nancy Williams. It’s a book about paper and its various uses. The Japanese ones are Phantasy Star Online art books. It’s a videogame that I religiously played back in the day. From left to right, the first one is the PSO Episode 1 & 2 Material Collection followed by The Book of Hunters and after that is a set that has Phantasy Star Online – Ep III – Blue Burst – Visual Book & The Elements of Phantasy Star Universe together in a plastic slip cover. If you’re a fan of the PSO series, definitely pick up The Book of Hunters and the Episode 1 & 2 Material Collection. Lots of good material. Also, I’m not sure why I still have the QuarkXpress book. I don’t think anyone uses that software anymore.[/spoiler]

Laying beside my desk is a Numark Mixtrack Pro. On top of the Converse box is a Sony MDR-V700DJ headphone. The cup there has tickets from shows I’ve been to. They include, Deadmau5, Tiesto, Lupe Fiasco, Arctic Monkeys, and among other acts. The bottle there should be familiar if you follow my blog. Other things

Here is a shelf that sits beside my desk. It mostly holds my games but there’s other junk here. Like for instance, physical CD’s! I mean who buys CD’s anymore? And why 2 Dreamcasts? If you played on the Dreamcast as much I did, there’s a high chance that you broke your first one and had to buy another. The Gamecube here has the Gameboy Advance add-on. The Gamecube also modded to play import games. There’s a switch in the back that lets you do just that. The main reason I got it modded was because I wanted to play PSO early so I imported the Japanese version =P

The Ion Drum Kit

This is mostly for Rock Band play but you can do some basic drumming on it if you wanted to. I’m just lacking some of the equipment to do that. Yes, that’s an acoustic guitar. I was tuning it one day and one of the strings popped. I took the rest of the strings out since I was going to replace all of them anyway. Against the wall, is a mirror that’s supposed to be in the bathroom but it’s here in my room. Oh did I mention I have some of my work on the floor also? Well there’s 2 right there. Beside that is my old PC and monitor. And above that…

… is more stuff on the wall. That’s right. Saints won the Super Bowl. I had to hang that up. The piece on the far right was given to me by another friend for Christmas.

I guess you can call this the main area since it’s where the TV resides. The desk on the right is a temporary workstation for my MacBook if I wanted to hook it up to the monitor. The red poster is a poster from Dirty Coast. I bought it during a convention here a few years ago. On the bottom right-hand corner, it says “26/300”.
